CSULB Degree Requirements
The following requirements apply to all undergraduate degrees for California State University, Long Beach.
General Education Requirements
Please see General Education Requirements from Student Records for the most up-to-date information.
GPA Requirements
CSULB uses three different grade point averages (GPAs) to evaluate a student's academic progress. In order to graduate, all three GPAs must be above a 2.0. In addition to overall GPA requirements, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 in all major courses is required for graduation.
- Overall GPA - includes all coursework including transferable courses from other institutions
- CSULB GPA - includes all coursework completed solely at CSULB
- Major Cumulative GPA - includes all coursework for the major including transferable coursework from other institutions
The Overall GPA and CSULB GPA must remain above a 2.0 to avoid academic warning. See Academic Standing and Appeals from Student Records for more information on academic warning.
Writing Proficiency Requirements
To graduate from CSULB, every student must satisfy the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
