Introduction:
Colonists who protested the Stamp Act found support from British manufacturers, who discovered that the boycotts hurt their businesses considerably. These entrepreneurs lobbied Parliament, urging the repeal of the act. When Parliament did repeal the Stamp Act in 1766, an enterprising potter produced this object, a fascinating statement linking consumer tastes, demand, and fashion in the colonies with the politics of protest.
