Welcome to the Elizabeth Murray Project Archive
The Elizabeth Murray Project features a constantly growing digital collection of primary sources — printed and manuscript documents, as well as images — and transcribed versions of these materials from various libraries and archives.
To explore the archive:
- Browse through all sources by clicking on "browse the collection" on the left menu bar. There, sources are grouped according to type, such as correspondence, legal records, and portraits.
- Search our entire archive with our full text search engine. Click on the "Search" tab above.
- Once a source is chosen, an image of it appears on a separate page accompanied by contextual background information and a full citation. On each source page, there are links allowing users to view larger versions of the images and transcriptions of the documents.
- To download an image or document (where copyright permissions allow), right click ("control & click" on Mac) the "download image" icon and select "save target as...." This procedure will allow you to save the image or document on your computer.
The "Supplemental Materials" section of our site provides additional primary and secondary source materials. These items, which are not available in facsimile form, address a range of issues and may be of particular use to teachers planning lessons based on the site.
