Loyalists

Loyalists were so named because they were colonists who remained loyal, dutiful subjects to the British crown during the American Revolution. Many loyalists fled Boston in March 1776 and went to Halifax, Nova Scotia. During the revolutionary period, thousands of loyalists fled America, many settling in Bristol, England.
