Adam Friedrich serves as the Associate Director of Bands at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. At the BCCM, he teaches conducting courses for music education and performance majors, serves as the conductor of the Symphonic Band and Concert Band, advises graduate band conducting students, and directs the Beach Band, which performs at basketball and volleyball games. Friedrich also coordinates the Music for All Pacific Coast Regional Festival, assists with the BCCM Conducting Workshop, has presented at the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association’s annual conference, and is a sought-after clinician and adjudicator. He has been a guest conductor for ensembles in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, California, the Lake Tahoe Music Camp, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
He received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting (DMA ‘24) at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) under the guidance of Dr. Kevin Holzman and a Master of Music degree in Band Conducting (MM ‘21) at Ball State University under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Caneva and Dr. Caroline Hand.
Prior to his graduate studies, Friedrich served as the Director of Bands at Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana (2016-2019), where his ensembles consistently received superior ratings across all mediums. Friedrich also holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Concordia University Chicago (BME ‘16).
