Meteorological Plotting Board U.S.N. 1981
Below is a 1981 Navy pattern Meteorological Plotting Board (manufactured in 1982.) It measures 24" x 24". It has instructions for use imprinted on its surface and two wind speed scales. An almost identical set of boards was produced at the same time as the one photographed labeled Meteorological Plotting Board U.S.N. 1966. The 1966 pattern boards construction utilized aluminum edges as opposed to the board below which has plastic sides. Other than the weight, all other aspects of the boards appear to be identical. A large image is available here. This pattern plotting board was also made in a 36" version which is identical in all respects except size and weight.
A board manufactured to a different specification was produced for the U. S. Weather Bureau.
