LeatherTramp at SXSW

LeatherTramp with students Jake Abernathie, Gracie Gray, and Elizabeth Chavez, and alumni Lawrence Pi, Miko Shudo, Cole Syverson, Chandler Riley, Marc Encabo, John-Michael O’Brien, and Gary Soland performed at SXSW in Austin.

They had three shows in at SXSW as well as stops in Amarillo, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

James Yoshizawa: Bodhrán Soloist and Percussionist

Alumnus James Yoshizawa has been asked to be the bodhrán soloist and percussionist in the new Broadway musical, “Come From Away.” There will be some touring in Washington DC and Toronto, then it will land on Broadway in NYC in January 2017. He will also return to the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival as a guest artist this summer and record his second album with the Jonathan Rowden Group this summer.

Faculty, Students, and Alumni at the Broad

Adjunct flute faculty Rena Urso-Trapani performed on the Broad’s “Beethoven, Bagels and Banter” series at The Edye, with flutist Carol Wincenc, harpist Katerina Englichova, and violinist Robert Davidovici. Also performing in the chamber ensemble were current and former students Catherine Hirabayashi (flute), Tim Jensen (bass), Christian Siqueiros (horn), and Adam Wolf (horn).

Sal Lozano as Guest Artist

Sal Lozano was a guest artist at Lynchburg College at their Second Annual LC JazzFest.

Sal has been a member of the Dancing with the Stars House Band, the American Idol House Band, and the Academy Awards Orchestra along with numerous other television and commercial credits. He has also performed at the Gala for the President at Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C. and as a soloist with the Pacific Symphony, the San Diego Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

A few of the artists Sal has recorded with include Paul McCartney, Natalie Cole, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Lalo Schifrin, Brian McKnight, Michael Buble, Keely Smith, Barbra Streisand, Joey DeFrancesco, and Maynard Ferguson.


Joe Sanders contracts for Sandra Schnieders

Alumnus Joe Sanders contracted and sang with may Bob Cole students and alumni for a session with composer and sound designer Sandra Schnieders at Sonic Fuel Studios.

Among those singing were Whittney Mikkél, Stacy Oh, Michaela Blanchard, Rebecca Bishop, Angel Yu McKay, Molly Burnside, Emilio Sandoval, Juan Castaneda, Emilio Pena, Morgan Davi, Jake Asaro, Mason Allred, Marcus Carline, and Jae Park at Sonic Fuel Studios.

Mostly Kosher on PBS

Mostly Kosher with alumni Leaav Sofer, Casey Solow, Mike, King, and Eric Hagstrom performed at the annual Christmas Eve concert at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, broadcast live on PBS.
