CSULB Marine Ecology Lab

We are a research group in marine community ecology at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) directed by Bengt Allen. We are in the Department of Biological Sciences and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Who WE ARE...

Abalone Cove Shoreline Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Ochre Star, Pisaster ochraceus; Flax Pond Salt Marsh, Old Field, NY; Sand Fiddler Crab, Uca pugilator.

WHAT WE DO...

Organisms experience and respond differently to their environment depending on their size and morphology, developmental stage and physiological state. Current research in the lab focuses on both the mechanistic links between local environmental conditions and individual physiology and behavior, and how variation at the individual level influences the structure and function of associated populations and communities.

We are always interested in recruiting talented and motivated undergraduate and graduate students to join the lab. Please contact us for more information.
