CSULB Community Emergency Response Team Training

Published: September 19, 2016

The Long Beach Fire Department is partnering with CSULB to launch a Campus Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program beginning this semester. Open to students and employees, participants will attend a weekend training to learn basic disaster response skills, such as fire suppression, search and rescue techniques and emergency medical operations.

The goal of this program is to have a team of trained volunteer responders on campus who can assist right after an incident in which first responders are not immediately available.

This training is free of charge and will be held at the Long Beach Fire Department Regional Training Center beginning Friday, Oct. 7, and ending with a graduation ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 9. Space is limited. To register, send your name, email address, and phone number to CERT@LongBeach.gov. If you have any questions, contact campus Assistant Emergency Coordinator Allyson Joy.
