Faculty Supper Club Talk On Sept. 27

The next Faculty Supper Club event will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. in the Karl W. E. Anatol Conference Center in the Academic Services building, room 119. The event is open to faculty and emeriti faculty only, and space is limited.

The guest speaker will be Department of History’s Charles Ponce de Leon, whose presentation is titled “What Does the History of Television News Reveal about Modern America?”

Ponce de Leon is the author of That’s the Way It Is: A History of Television News in America, which traces the history of television journalism in the United States from its birth in the 1940s to the early 2000s. It examines the origins and evolution of news programs broadcast by the major networks—NBC, CBS and ABC—and the emergence of all-news cable channels like CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.
