Published: April 4, 2016

As part of Counseling and Psychological Services at CSULB, Project OCEAN (On Campus Emergency Assistance Network) would like to invite the campus community to its Sixth Annual Live Your Life Day on Tuesday, April 12, at the Speakers Lawn located in front of the University Bookstore. This year’s theme is “Sailing Through the OCEAN of Emotions.”

The event will take place from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and provide resources from more than 30 on- and off-campus organizations promoting mental health and wellness. Live Your Life Day is a resource fair that focuses on mental and physical wellness, de-stigmatizing mental illness and encouraging overall wellness for our students.

In addition to the participating organizations, there will therapy animals for stress relief, DJ StrongWill will be playing music and Balloon Monsoon, a balloon animal artist, will be on hand. Also, there will be massage therapy, hammocks, an inflatable obstacle course, live musicians and performances by groups and clubs on campus to promote not only mental wellness, but also healthy living through such activities as Zumba, Poi dancing and salsa. Lunch will also be provided to the first 250 students (Italian food donated by Café La Strada in Long Beach, Market Grill Place, and Verizon Wireless).

Project OCEAN is dedicated to educating campus members on suicide prevention, promoting a climate that reduces the stigma associated with mental health needs and encouraging students to seek needed assistance.
