Norman E. Sexauer passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, at his home in Seal Beach, after a period of illness. Born in Mattoon, Ill. on Feb. 26, 1925 to Carl and Eleanor (Eberhardt), Sexauer graduated from Ogden High School in Iowa. in 1943. Sexauer was inducted into the Army Air Corps and was honorably discharged in December 1945. He attended Northwestern University between June 1946 and August 1949 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physics. He attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where in January 1952 he married Frances Hara, before going on to receive his master’s degree in mathematics in 1952 and his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1957. He accepted an assistant professorship at Ohio University in 1957. Later, he took an associate professorship in mathematics at CSULB and retired in January 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Carlisle, and sister, Joanne. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances, his son, Paul Emil, his granddaughter, Mariah, and great grandson, Cassius.
