The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a standardized test that provides practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also provides a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.

The goal of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) is to have California high-school graduates enter the CSU system fully prepared to begin college-level study. The EAP Program is a collaborative effort among the State Board of Education, the California Department of Education and the CSU.
