EOP Summer Bridge 2019
July 6th – August 2nd

The EOP Summer Bridge Program (SBP) is a program that allows first-time freshmen students experience the California State University, Long Beach environment prior to entering the fall term. Students will bridge the gap between high school and college through academic coursework, enrichment activities, and the opportunity to build relationships and network with students, faculty and staff. It is mandatory that all EOP freshmen attend either Residential Summer Bridge or Commuter Summer Bridge or they cannot participate in EOP.

Residential Summer Bridge

The Residential Summer Bridge Program Residential (SBP) is a four-week (July 06, 2019 – August 2, 2019) program of courses and activities designed to prepare you for the challenges of a four-year university. Residential Summer Bridge is designed for students that need further preparation in math and English skills before the Fall 2019 semester begins. Students in the program will be required to take their Early Start Math requirement in addition to English workshops to prepare them for college level composition courses. Residential SBP students will live in the residence halls throughout the duration of the program. There is no cost to participate in the residential program.

Commuter Summer Bridge

The Commuter Summer Bridge consists of a one-week program for all incoming EOP students not participating in Residential Summer Bridge. Commuter Summer Bridge sessions will be held July 15 – August 2. During this program, students attend workshops and activities on EOP program history and services, campus and leadership involvement, financial aid and utilization of student support services. A simulated class lecture will also be conducted by an Ethnic Studies department to help students understand academic expectations, classroom etiquette, and importance of developing positive rapport with faculty.
