What Happens When You Contact CARES

The CARES Team will evaluate the information and make a determination about a course of action to proceed in helping the student and the campus community. CARES may recommend actions such as encouraging the student to seek counseling, notifying the studentís parents or having the student assessed. If a crime is alleged, the police will investigate and, when appropriate, the student may be prosecuted. Similarly, if a violation of the Student Code of Conduct is alleged, the student may be subject to disciplinary action.

If it is assessed that the student's presence on campus or participation in University activities may lead to physical assault, threats of violence, conduct that threatens health or safety, or substantial disruption of University activities or functions, immediate steps will be taken to protect the campus community.
