About Cindy Masner

Currently in her 25th year in association with CSULB Athletics, Cindy Masner serves as the, Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Women’s Administrator (SWA).  Masner, is a champion of gender equity on the collegiate scene today, Masner coordinated and wrote the complex gender equity plan for the Long Beach campus.  She began her 49er career as a four-year letter-winner on the CSULB softball team.  She was the second person in 49er softball history to play four years. Active in numerous committees locally and nationally, Masner served seven years as a member of the NCAA Women’s Softball Committee, serving as Chair of the West Region committee for six years.  In 2000, she was the chair of the Division 1 Softball Committee.  Masner has been the tournament director for several NCAA Championship events, which have been hosted by CSULB and the Big West Conference.  In December of 2005 she successfully directed the 2005 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships at the Long Beach Arena, drawing raves from not only the NCAA, but the Long Beach community as well. When the NCAA Certification Committee was on campus reviewing the 49er Department of Athletics, she was a member of the Gender Equity Sub-Committee and the Steering Committee.  A Big West Council member, she has served as the chair of the Women’s Officials Committee and has been a member of the Compliance, Long-Range Planning and Big West Executive Committees. Masner also serves as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Executive Committee, the NCAA Softball Rules Committee and has served four years on the President’s Commission on the Status of Women Committee, including two years as the chair. Masner graduated from CSULB in 1986 with a degree in Physical Education. She holds a certificate from the Sports Management Institute and is a member of the NACWAA Institute for Athletic Executives.
