WPE Workshop Schedule

Individual Tutoring (free for CSULB-enrolled students!)*

ESL Tutoring

Above, you can see a tutor working with a student on improving his English. If you meet with a tutor for several appointments, your early sessions will establish your goals and help you identify areas of strength and weakness; later sessions will focus on helping you identify and correct errors on your own!

If you would like to work with a tutor for several weeks or even the entire semester, you can! You can arrange to meet with the same tutor every week at the same time; the tutor can work with you on any aspect of writing, including vocabulary, essay structure, grammar, and proofreading strategies that you need for college-level writing. You can also request a tutor to help you as you prepare for the WPE or work on passing a GWAR course. Complete this form to officially request a tutor, and we will contact you to make arrangements after the semester has begun.

Tutoring hours are available Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm and Fri 9am-12n. Tutors begin working the third week of classes. For more information, call the LAC at 562.985.5350 or visit us in HC-104.

*If you are not a CSULB-enrolled student but still would like to receive tutoring, email us to learn about the fee structure.

Coversation Lab (free for CSULB-enrolled students!)*

Convo Lab

Our Conversation Lab is full of board games, maps, volunteers with smiling faces, and comfortable furniture! Come visit!

Click here to hear an ESL student named Kohei share about his experiece with the Conversation Lab.

The Conversation Lab is a great place to practice your English with a native speaker. It is a reaxed, informal, safe place for you to ask questions and practice speaking English. Our friendly volunteers will help you with pronunciation and grammar; talk about virtually any topic with you; and explain American idioms, slang, and culture. The Conversation Lab is especially useful for international students and English learners.

The Conversation Lab is open Mon-Thurs 10am-5pm during Fall and Spring semesters and begins on the third week of classes. Click here for a link to the weekly volunteer schedule. No appointments are needed! For more information, call the LAC at 562.985.5350 or visit us in HC-104.

*If you are not a CSULB-enrolled student but still would like to visit the Conversation Lab, email us to learn about the fee structure.

During summer and winter recess, we encourage students to volunteer with one of several local non-profit programs as a way to give back and to enrich their English learning experience.
