Minor in Africana Studies

Requirements

The Minor in Africana Studies is open to any non-Africana Studies majors.

The Minor in Africana Studies requires a minimum of 24 units of which at least 12 units must be in upper-division courses.

Take two or more courses from each of the following:

  • Group A: AFRS 120, AFRS 121, AFRS 154, AFRS 200, AFRS 201, AFRS 210, AFRS 310, AFRS 325, AFRS 330, AFRS 332, AFRS 335, AFRS 354, AFRS 400, AFRS 410, AFRS 420, AFRS 430
  • Group B: AFRS 140, AFRS 155, AFRS 160,AFRS 255, AFRS 343A, AFRS 343B, AFRS 346, AFRS 353, AFRS 363, AFRS 415,AFRS 454, AFRS 475, AFRS 498I

Take the following core course:

  • AFRS 110 Introduction to Africana Studies (3)
    Prerequisite/Corequisite: One GE Foundation course.
  • AFRS 495 Research Methods in Africana Studies (3)
    Prerequisites: AFRS 110 and 6 units upper-division work in Africana Studies. For Department majors.
