Possible Collaboration Tools

  • Clickers use radio frequencies via hand-held remote control devices that each student has in the classroom. They allow for active participation during a lecture as students answer questions via the buttons on their hand-held device.
  • Blogs are websites where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order. A blog can encourage in-depth and extended writing and reflection than email or discussion boards.
  • Wikis (definition of wikis) and Wikipedia encourage democratic use of the Web and promote content composition by nontechnical users. As a result, the tool can be utilized by students to become the "experts" as they format and generate a wiki on a classroom-based topic.
  • RSS feeds in Plain English (Video)
  • del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer, share bookmarks publicly for reference, and view/interact with others' public bookmarks.
  • MERLOT Multimedia Education Resources for Learning and Online Teaching is a free resource for instructor and students of higher education. Browse the collection of learning objects or search for course materials.
