Sean Dunnahoe is a musicologist whose work focuses on music of the medieval and Renaissance periods. Dr. Dunnahoe received his doctorate from Royal Holloway, University of London, where he also received Erasmus doctoral grants to conduct archival research in Sweden through Uppsala University. Specializing in medieval liturgy and music (with a personal research interest in the music manuscripts of medieval Scandinavia and England), Dr. Dunnahoe’s approach to his topic is strongly interdisciplinary, incorporating social, cultural and religious history, music theory, palaeography, and manuscript studies. He brings these elements into his music history lectures, teaching from the actual sources wherever possible so that his students can hear and understand the music the way its contemporaries would have.

Dr. Dunnahoe is an alumnus of CSULB, having graduated from here with a BM in composition, an MA in musicology, and a Graduate Certificate in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, where he focused on history and literature.
