Robert Wahl is a Ph.D. candidate in musicology specializing in music of the Ibero-America and twentieth century music of the United States. Robert earned his bachelor of music from San Diego State University with emphasis on classical guitar and a master of arts in musicology from California State University, Long Beach with a thesis on the music of Paraguayan guitarist Agustín Barrios Mangoré. His current research explores the significance of Spanish music and musicians in the United States within the context of the Cold War and the reestablishment of diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Spain beginning in 1953. Robert actively performs for schools and community events in the Riverside and Long Beach areas and has presented his research at local AMS chapter meetings and Columbia University’s Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures.
