Scott Hedgecock has been teaching music, with a focus in vocal studies, choral music, and performance practices, for over forty years. Scott worked in the Unified School Districts of Santa Monica/Malibu, Capistrano Valley, Pasadena, and La Cañada. He retired in 2019 from Fullerton Joint Union High School District where he served for twenty-nine years. Currently, Scott serves as a University Mentor in the Single Subject Credential Program through the College of Education where he guides music student teachers. He also teaches Class Voice, a fundamentals of singing course open to non-music majors, for the vocal department in the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.

Scott Hedgecock values Service Leadership. He served ten years as a board member and Past President for the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) and sixteen years for the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) where he was also a Past President. Currently, he serves as a member of the National Executive Board for the National Association for Music Education and is the President of the Western Division/Region of NAfME. During his tenure in CMEA leadership, Scott assisted in restructuring CMEA through two strategic plans and guided continued growth in the Western Division/Region during the "Bringing NAfME West" and "Shortening the Distance" eras—initiatives to strengthen and unite music education associations in the West. Scott Hedgecock strives to engage college students in Service Leadership to increase participation and develop early career connections that will lead to lifelong membership and service to professional organizations.
