Carolyn Kelley earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from California State University, Long Beach. After receiving her credential in music, she began her career at Bellflower Middle/High School in the Bellflower Unified School District. At Bellflower, Ms. Kelley directed a wide range of choirs, welcoming students of all abilities and experiences. As an active advocate for the arts, Kelley served as the BHS Performing Arts Instructional leader for three decades where she oversaw theater, vocal, and instrumental music programs. She served on two district advisory councils, advocating for student access to the performing arts. She was the BUSD 2001 District Teacher of the Year and a Music Center Education Division Bravo Award Finalist.

Kelley also served on the Executive Board of the Bellflower Teachers Association as a Secondary Representative (2016–2020) and was treasurer for the Southern California Vocal Association (2005). Additionally, she served as music director at Emanuel Lutheran Church, La Habra (25 years), taught Vocal Jazz and Voice at Santa Ana Community College, directed the Tapestry Community Bell Choir, and was a member of the Laurie Morvan Band.

Currently, Ms. Kelley serves as a University Mentor to CSULB student teachers. She is grateful for her education at CSULB and is thrilled to be a part of mentoring the next generation of music teachers.
