Bob Cole Conservatory of Music

Composers' Guild

The CSULB Composers' Guild is a collection of undergraduate and graduate composers who meet regularly to discuss issues pertinent to composition, to collaborate on creative projects, and to organize performances of their music. The Guild provides practical experience to composers in multiple aspects of performance, production, and concert publicity under faculty supervision.

New Music Ensemble

Alan Shockley, director

Join the New Music Ensemble for one of Philip Glass’ earliest minimalist works, his Music in Contrary Motion from 1969, alongside works with unusual notation by American composer Pauline Oliveros and by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The program will also include a brief "preview" of a short excerpt from Stockhausen’s masterpiece of ritual, Stemming (also the first Western classical work centered entirely on overtone singing).

Guest Artist Recital

HOCKET Piano Duo

HOCKET members Sarah Gibson and Thomas Kotcheff are both pianist-composers dedicated to commissioning and performing contemporary music. Together, they have premiered over one hundred chamber and solo works.
