Tanya is a 2-time CSULB alumni with a strong background and upbringing in the arts and education. While her education took a turn towards public service, Tanya is a trained classical dancer who studied at LACHSA before making her way to the CSULB Dance program in 2011. Her first job on campus as a student assistant for the program now known as BMAC, changed her trajectory towards obtaining a BA in Human Development (class of 2015) and a Master of Public Administration (class of 2023) from CSULB.

Over the last 10 years, Tanya has served the campus as an academic advisor for the College of the Arts, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Health and Human Services. She has also served as a commissioner on the President’s Equity and Change Commission from 2020-2023 where she Co-Chaired the Data Committee, as a coordinator for the Equity Through Advising committee from 2023-2024, and as voting member on the Curriculum and Educational Policies Council (CEPC) from 2024-2025.
