Andrew Magaña is a retired instrumental music educator with 37 years of teaching experience in Southern California at the middle and high school levels. He taught band and orchestra, as well as courses in AP Music Theory and Guitar. Andrew is a graduate of the California State University, Long Beach music education program and earned a master’s degree in Conducting from the American Band College at Southern Oregon University.
During his career, he served as a department chair and mentor, supporting credential candidates in lesson planning, classroom management, rehearsal pedagogy, and professional practice. His ensembles earned regional and national recognition, including performances at Carnegie Hall and designation as a Grammy Signature School.
As a university mentor, he brings extensive experience supervising and evaluating student teachers while supporting reflective, student-centered instruction.
