Kristine Forney has been a member of the Music History/Musicology faculty since her appointment at CSULB in 1978. She specializes in Renaissance music, is a performer and teacher on historical instruments, and has served the Director of the Collegial Musicum for fifteen years.

With a PhD from the University of Kentucky, Professor Forney has published articles in various scholarly journals, has edited several large anthologies of music (including the Norton Scores), and is co-author, with Joseph Machlis, of The Enjoyment of Music, a widely used music appreciation textbook.

She has held research grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright Association, the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, and the American Philosophical Society, and was recently honored as an inaugural member of the University of Kentucky School of Music Hall of Fame.
