Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Erick Jovel is an active freelance musician with versatility ranging from orchestral to jazz and other commercial music.
Erick is second trumpet with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and principal trumpet of Downey Symphony. He has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, San Diego Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, Pasadena Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Pacific Palisades Symphony, Wild Up, Los Angeles Valley Symphony, Glendale Philharmonic, Riverside Philharmonic, Culver City Chamber Orchestra, Culver City Symphony, Marina Del Rey Symphony, Centerstage Opera, Pacific Opera Project, Long Beach Municipal Band, and several Musical Theatre companies.
He has worked on various TV and Motion Picture Soundtracks such as Disney’s Encanto, Disney/Pixar’s Lightyear; Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Star Trek Lower Decks, Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Gremlins, Batman: The Caped Crusader, and various others.
Erick has performed as a featured soloist for The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Capitol Ensemble, Pacific Brass Ensemble, Corona Symphony, Masters University Wind Ensemble, Symphony Irvine, UCLA Philharmonia and UCLA Wind Ensembles. He also performs with various international Latin artist such as Andy Montañez, Tony Vega, Yari Moré, Jungle Fire, Sonora Dinamita, Sonora Caliente, and Orquesta Tabaco y Ron.
Erick has participated in the Banff All Star Brass Festival where he performed with world-class musicians Jens Lindemann, Ryan Anthony, Marty Hackleman, Mark Gould, Phil Snedicor, Alain Trudel, Alstair Kay, and Pat Sheridan.
Dr. Jovel earned degrees from USC Thornton School of Music (DMA), UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music (MM), and CSU Northridge (BM). His principal teachers are David Washburn, Jens Lindemann, and Thomas Hooten.
Dr. Erick Jovel is on the faculty at the Bob Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach and at CSU Northridge.
