Dillon MacIntyre is Principal Trombone of the Santa Barbara Symphony and Pageant of the Masters Orchestra. He has worked with prestigious ensembles around the world including Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Denmark’s Prinsens Musikkorps, San Francisco Ballet, LA Opera, LA Chamber Orchestra, and Pacific Symphony, and has toured throughout Europe and Asia. A sought-after musician throughout Southern California, you may also hear him on soundtracks for major motion pictures, television, and various albums and video games.
An active educator, Dillon serves on the Trombone Faculty of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, as well as CSU Northridge. In addition to Trombone, he has taught classes including beginning conducting, chamber music, music in world culture, wind ensemble, and brass methods.
Dillon received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his MM from Northwestern University. He also completed a study abroad program at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. His primary teachers are Noel Wallace, Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, Niels-Ole Bo Johansen, Michael Mulcahy, Douglas Wright, Timothy Higgins, Randall Hawes, and Christopher Davis. He is a first-prize winner in several international competitions including events at the American Trombone Workshop and International Trombone Festival.
In his spare time, he enjoys wine, hiking in the So Cal wilderness, playing video games, and watching tv with his two cats.
