Gas Cylinder/Cryogenic Liquid Training

CNSM personnel who move gas cylinders, hook-up regulators and/or draw liquid nitrogen from the College nitrogen tank must participate in a compressed gas (CG) safety training session. CG training consists of two parts. The first part is a PowerPoint presentation and quiz. The second part is hands-on instruction. Hands-on instruction is typically scheduled the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM. Call or email the safety office to schedule the hands-on training. Download the CG powerpoint and the CG quiz.

Staff and faculty must be especially vigilant to ensure that they do NOT allow an untrained person to move cylinders, install/remove regulators or draw liquid nitrogen. CNSM Safety gives the initial required training, but Faculty and Staff remain responsible for providing specific "hands-on" instruction and effective oversight in the safe use of compresses gases, liquid nitrogen and/or dry ice.

If you are not sure if someone has completed a specific training session, call Safety x55623 to verify training status.
