SEE US Succeed!

Science Education Experience to help Underserved Students Succeed!

The SEE US Succeed! program is a two-week summer science camp program that provides hands-on, inquiry-based science investigations for Long Beach Unified 1st-5th grade students experiencing homelessness or who are foster youth. The program is modeled after the Young Scientists Camp.

This year we are partnering with Vision to Learn in order to vision screening for campers. This includes a basic vision exam and, if needed, eye glasses, all at no cost to the families.

SEE US Succeed! is a joint venture between California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), supported by the CSULB Math/Science Teacher Initiative and individual and group donors.

When

July 17-28, 2023. Monday through Friday, 8:40am-1:00pm.

Where

The camp takes place on the campus of California State University, Long Beach.

Eligibility

1st-5th grade children experiencing homelessness or poverty or who are foster youth in the Long Beach Unified School District are eligible for the SEE US Succeed! program.

Students not eligible for the SEE US Succeed! program can apply to attend Young Scientists Camp (see camp details), the tuition-based camp at CSULB during the same two weeks.

Application

Recruitment for this program is done by school counselors. Applications are then reviewed and families notified of their acceptance.

Families will be notified as soon as possible. Students not accepted in the first round will be wait-listed and contacted in July if openings become available. Priority will be given to students who did not attend last year and to families with completed applications.
