Angelica Gunderson Received $25k Milken Educator Award
Angelica Gunderson, a CSU Long Beach graduate and professor, received a $25,000 national Milken Educator Award on May 10, 2022. The Milken Educator Awards was conceived by Lowell Milken to celebrate, elevate, and activate the teaching profession.

The Science Education Department Chair Dr. Lisa Martin was selected to serve in a 3-year term as the Executive Director of the National Association of Research in Science Teaching (NARST).

Meeting a Growing Need for Physics Teachers
There is a severe shortage of qualified science and math teachers nationwide, including physics. CSULB is credentialing and providing a pathway for existing teachers to add an authorization in physics, enabling them to teach the much-needed subject area.

Tom Zook, a triple alum of CSULB, was selected as the 2021 Local PhysTEC Teacher of the Year. Tom earned his B.S. in physics, secondary physics teaching credential, and M.S. in science education from CSULB.
Laura Henriques Elected Fellow of the APS
Dr. Laura Henriques was awarded induction as Fellow in the American Physical Society for "exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise in physics research, important applications of physics, leadership made in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education."
