If you would like to register for SCED 401 but receive a message that states you have not met the prerequisites, please call our office at (562) 985-4801. Often students who have taken one of the prerequisites at another school or who are currently taking one of the prerequisite courses cannot register for the class without department consent. As long as you will have met the pre-reqs by the time the course starts, we are happy to issue you a permit that will enable you to register for the class. On the first meeting of the class you will be required to bring an unofficial copy of your transcript so that the professor can verify that you are eligible to be in the class.
There is one section of SCED 401 that is offered every summer (seminar and lab combined). Summer enrollment for SCED 401 is done on an application basis through the department of Liberal Studies. Liberal Studies will review all applications, confirm that prerequisites have been met, and issue permits to students. If you would like to take this course, please contact the Liberal Studies Department at (562) 985-4228.
SCED 475 is open for registration to students in the Multiple Subject Credential Program (MSCP). In the fall and spring semesters, there is one section (seminar and activity) that is initially set aside for students that are student teaching during that semester and this section will be only be available by Department Consent. If you are student teaching and you need to take SCED 475 at the same time, please contact the Multiple Subject Credential program and make sure you are on the list to take the student teaching section of this class. The MSCP office can be reached at (562) 985-4508. The other sections of SCED 475 are open for registration and do not require department consent.
There is one section of SCED 475 that is offered every summer (seminar and activity). Initially the class is Department Consent only to allow registration for fall student teachers. Once those students have been permitted, the department consent restriction is removed and any students in the Multiple Subject Credential program can register.
