Project Funding and Support

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of a number of institutions, agencies, and individuals.

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has provided the bulk of the support for the development of the present site. A 2004 NEH grant for Teaching and Learning Resources and Curriculum Development provides two years of financial assistance for site development from June 2004-September 2006.

California State University Long Beach (CSULB) and the Department of History at CSULB have provided early and on-going assistance. The university hosts this site and lends an array of technical, administrative, and financial support. Faculty and staff of the Department of History have provided feedback regarding classroom application of the site and administrative support.

Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) has assisted with organizing and recruiting K-12 participants, as well as providing room and computer lab space for site demonstrations. Under the auspices of the "Teaching American History" program, through the U.S. Department of Education, the district has provided financial support as well.

The Boston National Historical Park of the National Park Service (NHP-NPS), as well as the Revere House, provided funding for members of the project team to travel to Boston in March 2004 for a site demonstration and workshop for Massachusetts educators. These agencies also assisted with administrative support and room space.

The acknowledgments section of the project history page describes in more detail the role of individuals who provided important assistance.
