The Brent C. Dickerson Collection of Cacti and Other Succulents

This very modest collection of cacti and other succulents has as its sole distinction the fact that almost everything in the collection, other than commercial cultivars, was grown from seed by Mr. Dickerson. Some individual specimens, while small in size, date back to the 1960s. The ever-turbulent world of cactus nomenclature, while it may not leave the identity of a particular specimen in doubt, does leave one wondering about what its currently favored name might be. Here, we adopt a traditional nomenclature—in most cases, that in effect when the specimen germinated—which we hope to revise when the taxonomic world finally reaches calm and sunny shores. In our listings, the hybrid cultivars follow the species. As always, we welcome corrections and suggestions; data concerning parentages of hybrids is particularly besought. Collection numbers (as "KK1393") are supplied as possible.
