Brief Biographical Sketch
Khosro Moshirvaziri is a Professor of Information Systems, the former Director of Master of Science (MSIS) Program at
California State University, Long Beach;
and a Research Engineer Scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles.
He holds three M.S. and an Engineer Degrees from
Stanford University,
School of Engineering, School of Statistical Sciences, School of Mathematics,
and Computer Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from
University of California, Los Angeles.
His prior work experience includes ten years of scientific research as staff
scientist at IBM Scientific Centers and
IBM General Product Division where he worked on numerous IBM product developments
and on computer performance measurement, evaluation, and simulation of advanced
IBM processors,
and on Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) and retrieval systems.
He has served the field of math programming;
global optimization by providing the scientific community with tools and theory
to tackle mathematically intractable problems with potential applications in
Engineering Design, Logistics, Business, and Economics. He has served as grant proposal
evaluator for NSF and DARPA.
He is a full member of INFORMS,
currently serves as Vice President of Information Systems for
Western Decision Sciences Institute (WDSI),
and on Editorial Board of JAMDS,
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Decision Sciences,
AOR,
Advances in Operations Research
, and JISE,
Journal of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
He also serves on editorial review/advisory board of several other scientific journals.
