Marc Lowenstein, tenor, has performed over twenty five opera roles including Don Jose in Carmen, Pelleas in Pelleas et Melisande, Tom in A Rake¹s Progress, Sandy in The Lighthouse, and Oedipus in Oedipus Rex. He sings with Alan Eder¹s "Reggae Chanukah" and has founded a group "Ahava" dedicated to international Jewish folk music. He has written several works and has recently completed a full-length opera The Fisher King based on the screenplay of the same name. Also active as a conductor, he teaches at CalArts. He has an A.B. from Harvard and a Ph.D. in composition from UC Berkeley.
