MSCS GRAD ADVISING

THESIS OPTION

If you chose the Thesis Option:


  • You must have a GPA of at least 3.3.
  • You will need to find a CECS Faculty member who is willing to serve as your thesis advisor.
  • You must take at least 6 units from CECS 697/CECS 698 (min. of 3 units of CECS 698).
  • You will need to Advance to Candidacy before you enroll in CECS 697/698.
  • You will need to have your written thesis proposal approved by the Graduate Curriculum Committee. (See the Links & Forms page on this website for the Thesis or Project Proposal form.)
  • You will need to give an Oral Defense with your three member Thesis Committee.
  • You will need to format your thesis according to the University Library guidelines.
  • You will need to complete your thesis following the University Library deadlines.
NOTE: A Thesis typically takes longer than the Comp Exams to complete.

ELECTRONIC THESIS SUBMISSION
Beginning with the Fall 2014 semester, students will upload their manuscript directly to the CSULB Library Thesis Office using ProQuest, instead of submitting a hard copy of their document. Full details are available on the Thesis Office website: http://www.csulb.edu/library/guide/serv/
