In order to address the pilot shortage and reduce operating costs, the Single Pilot Understanding Distributed Simulations (SPUDS) project aims to reduce the commercial cockpit crew in a manner that will provide increased safety and efficiency. Our team was tasked with aiding in the creation of simulations that will allow the assessment of automation technology, flight crew, and ground operator ability to mitigate off-nominal situations. We used the Multi Aircraft Control System (MACS) for the simulation interface and StormGen to incorporate weather disturbances.
Researchers have long debated whether or not playing video-games has an influence on our cognitive abilities. This study was conducted to seek an understanding of relationships between playing Video-Games and Cognitive Abilities. Data was collected and compared between Response-Selection tasks and self-reported measures.
