Long Beach State track and field athletes are making great strides, jumps and throws this season.
Runner Rosa Del Toro achieved her sixth school record with a lifetime-best 16:23.15 in the 5000-meter run on the first day of the Husky Classic in Seattle. She ranks first among the 49er all-time leaders in the indoor mile, 3000m and 5000m, the outdoor 1500m, and both the 5K and 6K in cross country.
Two 49ers also became the No. 3 5000m runners for the campus and posted personal bests, as Michelle Thompson came in at 17:11.86 and Jake Dawson ran for 14:37.37.
At the Air Force Team Challenge, Willie Alexander won the long jump with a schol record of 24-11.25. Michael Vaughan won the triple jump with a personal record 48-10, while Emily Cooper took victories in the 60m (7.54) and 200m (24.72).
