Electric car owners now have a place on campus to charge them, thanks to a gift of two 240-volt electric vehicle chargers located in Parking Lot 1 and dedicated to CSULB alumnus and lecturer Doug Korthof, a passionate advocate for plug-in cars who passed away in February.
Korthof earned a B.A. in math in 1968 and an M.A. in philosophy in 1970 and was a lecturer in the Information Systems and Mathematics departments from 1981 to 1987. He also met his wife, Lisa Rosen, on campus.
His friends and family established the Doug Korthof Memorial Fund as a tribute to his contribution to the electrical vehicle movement. Working with the non-profit organization Adopt a Charger, the family is sponsoring free public charging on campus.
