49er Camp Instructional Staff

Rick Hayes, Director

Keith Russell, Assistant Director

Marvin Manzanares, Assistant Director

The “49er Camp” instructional staff is comprised of teachers, physical educators, coaches, college undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of education, athletics and recreation from California State University, Long Beach and other major universities. Our staff also includes teaching assistants, who will team teach a variety of activities.

In addition, we have swimming specialists to supplement our swim instruction, which allows us to keep a proper instructor to camper ratio.

As a parent you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s camp instructor for a conference at the conclusion of each session. You will receive an evaluation of your child’s physical and social development within the context of the camp, as well as fitness and swimming scores.

The 49er Camp Office is located in the Kinesiology Building Room 5. Drop off and pick up of campers is located in Lot 12 in front of the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Call (562) 985-4049 for additional information.
