Are you interested in conducting research? Are you an undergraduate student pursuing a major in COE or CNSM? Have you completed the majority of your lower division major courses? If so, then apply for the Winter Research Experience.

Eligibility Requirements
- Declared major in COE or CNSM
- Completed 40-70 units by the end of Fall semester or be a first semester Fall transfer student
- Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above
- Enrolled in courses for the spring semester following your participation
- Commit to full-time participation during program dates
- Hispanic/Latino

Program details
The Winter Research Experience is a 10-week research program for current CSULB Latino STEM students. Prior to the 10-week hands on research experience, you will attend a 2-day orientation that includes research focused trainings such as: lab safety, lab notebook, and ethical conduct – in addition to other professional development workshops. At the conclusion of the 10 weeks, you and your faculty member are invited to attend a recognition event where you will be given the opportunity to briefly present on your experience and involvement in the lab.

Program goal
The goal of the program is to ignite your interest in research and serve as a seed to facilitate your transition into other minority research programs.

- To increase your ability to apply content and skills learned in the classroom to research,
- To increase your understanding of the research process,
- To increase your knowledge of ethical conduct in your research field, and
- To increase your ability to interpret results in research.
