Robert C. Harman, (Ph.D., University of Arizona, 1969; Professor)

Robert Harman serves as the CSULB Applied Anthropology representative to the Applied Consortium, which is comprised of applied training programs in the United States. The Consortium, founded in February, 2000 has met three times each year since then. More on the Consortium activities can be found on the next page. Dr. Harman has been involved annually, for several years, in organizing a CSULB table at the poster session for applied programs that wish to announce their programs publicly at the Society for Applied Anthropology meeting. In 1997 and 1998 he organized that poster session program for the Society. In 1991 and 1992, Dr. Harman served as president of the Southern California Applied Anthropology Network and carried out activities promoting applied anthropology in this region. He was elected to be a representative-at-large on the National Association for the Practice of Anthropology Executive Board in 1993-95. In 2000 he conducted a survey, under the auspices of NAPA, of the skills of alumni of master's level applied anthropology programs. The preliminary results, co-authored with two students, appeared in the May 2001 Anthropology News.
