2011 State Archers of California State Indoor Target Archery Championships

The new team! This past weekend the team participated in their first 2011 competition, the California State Indoor Tournament in Tulare, Ca. With temperatures in the 40s and the sweet smell of alfalfa (a.k.a. cows) in the air, the team headed to practice on Friday to get sight settings and loosen up. It was a new experience for our rookie team members-the timed lights, the whistles, and 101 total collegiate archers from 12 different schools. This record number of other competitors did not deter our team. After our team dinner on Friday night, the team returned to the fairgrounds, ready for two days of archery. The team did exceptionally well. Eleven of the 15 archers posted Personal Best scores. Additionally, the team brought home three medals: Hannah Motegi placed 1st in Womens Recurve, Raymond Macias placed 2nd in Mens Compound, and Tiffany Hsu placed 3rd in Womens Compound. What a great start to the year!

Looking to the New Year!

As the fall semester comes to a close we look back at all the activities that happened. This semester we had a great turn-out for new members in the club. Our returning members enjoyed sharing the ins and outs of archer with them. Early in October we once again hosted the USCA West Region seminar. U.S head coach KiSik Lee presented the National Training System for form to all attendees. Team tryouts were held in late October and 14 members were selected to represent CSULB, once again allowing us to field a full team. Our semester ended with our holiday party, hosted by Vickie Phan. It was a night of great food, great fun, and an awesome gift exchange as well.
Winter break sees the club members relaxing at home as the team members will be hard at work gearing up for State Indoor. This competition will begin the competition season.
