Notable
Books for a Global Society
This annual project identifies outstanding new
preK-12 multicultural literature to
promote understanding of differences among people as well as our commonalities.
Our first list, of books with 1995 copyright dates, was announced in 1996.
Los
Angeles 100 Best Books
We partner the Los Angeles Unified School Districts Library
Services who annually identify 100 of the most outstanding new preK-12
childrens young adults literature which belongs in every
library and media center. Their recommendations for a balanced library
acquisition program include fiction and all areas of nonfiction represented
in the Dewey Decimal library classification system. The first list (books
published in 1995) was published in The Dragon Lode in 1997.
This project was sanctioned as a partnership by the Board of Directors
at their May meeting, 1999.
Networking
We strive to facilitate networking among all those interested
in childrens literature. The idea to sponsor a Network via the WWW
was approved by the Board of Directors in 1997. Our present priorities
include:

A Childrens Literature Listserve
