Scholarships Available Through Women and Philanthropy Program

For the sixth consecutive year, the Women and Philanthropy program at CSULB will be awarding scholarships to qualified re-entry students, with scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500. Deadline for application is Friday, Oct. 22, and those awarded scholarships will be recognized in January during a reception with members of the Women and Philanthropy organization and the campus community.

Women and Philanthropy was formed in 1998 to give public recognition for the generous gifts of women throughout the history of CSULB. Made up of alumnae, faculty, staff and friends of the university, members make financial contributions to the university to support scholarships and volunteer their time on campus in areas corresponding to their individual interests.

Among the general qualification criteria are that an applicant must be a re-entry student, an undergraduate 25 years of age or older, be presently enrolled with six or more units, have an overall grade point average of 3.0 and the ability to demonstrate financial need.

To date, 35 scholarships totaling $40,500 have been awarded, providing assistance to returning students who would otherwise find it difficult to complete their education.

For additional information regarding the scholarships or membership in Women and Philanthropy, contact Barbara Holden at 562/985-4126.
