Community Service Award Deadline Set For Feb. 17Published: February 17, 2014
Applications are being taken for the Community Service Award, which is designed to recognize and encourage service by members of the CSULB family to the community within which they live. The award is sponsored by the Academic Senate, the Staff Council, the Alumni Association and the Associated Students. The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 17.
For qualification, a wide range of service activities are eligible, including political, religious and social activism. In all cases, sustained involvement and especially significant results are considered. Special attention will be given to noteworthy accomplishments within the past 12 months.
Preference will be given to unpaid volunteer service which is not part of one’s normal and expected occupational duties. Those eligible are CSULB faculty, staff, students and alumni, which includes all former students and friends of the university. Self-nominations are encouraged and awardees may reapply five years after receiving an award.
