Inaugural Regional Economic Forum Scheduled For April 26Published: April 15, 2013
The Office of Economic Research (OER) at CSULB will host the inaugural CSULB Regional Economic Forum on Friday, April 26, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Pointe in the campus’ Walter Pyramid.
Led by new OER Director Heather Stephens, the forum builds on the success of more than 20 years of the Regional Economic Forecast Conference and on the work by economics professors Lisa Grobar and Joe Magaddino.
“The event has been renamed the Regional Economic Forum in order to highlight its new format,” said Stephens, who is also an assistant professor in the Department of Economics. “I am very excited about this year’s forum and its potential to bring together a range of community leaders and help facilitate a discussion about the economic future of the region.”
The 2013 CSULB Regional Economic Forum will begin with an overview of the region’s economy. It will be followed by a panel of local experts from the tourism, health care and transportation industries who will contribute their expertise and help facilitate a discussion about the future of the region.
Panelists for this year’s event will include Stephen Goodling, president and CEO, Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau; Diana Hendel, CEO, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach; and Eddie Northen, vice president of finance, West Region, United Parcel Service.
The cost to attend the forum is $35, which includes breakfast. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
