Neil Hultgren, English, presented “Criminal Waiting in Dickens’s Fiction” to the Portland, Ore., annual conference of the Victorian Interdisciplinary Studies Association of the Western United States in November.

Ingrid Martin and Hieu Nguyen, Marketing, organized and led a roundtable on “Consumption Addiction: A Research Agenda of the Progression from Adaptive to Maladaptive Categories of Consumption Behaviors” at the Association of Consumer Research in Chicago on Oct. 3-6. The focus of the roundtable was to build on research to better understand the process by which seemingly normal, benign behaviors become maladaptive and move towards addiction.

Teri Yamada, Comparative Literature and Classics, recently oversaw the publication, as executive director of the Nou Hach Literary Association, of the seventh volume of the Nou Hach Literary Journal. Founded in 2002, the Nou Hach Literary Project was named in 2008 as the winner of the Jeri Laber International Freedom to Publish Award. The association published in 2013 “Just a Human Being and Other Tales from Contemporary Cambodia” depicting the social, political and economic challenges of life in contemporary Cambodia.
